16 April 2013 : INTERNATIONAL YOUNG PLANNING PROFESSIONALS AWARD (YPPA) 2013

INTERNATIONAL YOUNG PLANNING PROFESSIONALS AWARD (YPPA) 2013

Introduction
The Directorate responsible for planning at the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment (I&M) is encouraging young planning professionals to provide new ideas on the forms, methods and possibilities in spatial planning needed to face present-day challenges facing our human settlements. It is therefore using the European Urban Summer School (EUSS) as the main forum to organise an International Young Planning Professionals Award (YPPA), giving them the opportunity to present their proposals on planning methods, explaining why these ideas can be considered innovative and of a broader, more general application.

The EUSS is a Summer School jointly organised by the Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP), the International Federation of Housing and Planning (IFHP), the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP), the European Council of Spatial Planners (ECTP-CEU).

The YPPA are jointly organised by AESOP, IFHP, ISOCARP and the Directorate for National Spatial Planning, Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment in The Netherlands which also funds the award.

The competition aims to promote innovative ideas on spatial planning in Europe from young professionals and stimulate thinking on the role of the urban planner in time of major challenges and rapid urban transformation in economic, social, environmental, demographic and political terms. Planning is "out of fashion". Yet it is needed, but has to prove its added value by offering the means to meet contemporary challenges in another way than it has traditionally done.

11 May 2013 : Call for Interest: Becoming Local

BECOMING LOCAL’ – CALL FOR INTEREST
The Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP)

The Thematic Group ‘Public Spaces and Urban Cultures’ (TG PS-UC) / May 2013

The AESOP Thematic Group for Public Spaces and Urban Cultures hereby opens a call to different partner institutions, in Europe and beyond, to host the group’s future meetings in the years 2013 to 2015. After having dealt with the subject of “Conviviality” during the group’s meetings in Vienna, Ljubljana, Naples, Brussels and Lisbon, which took place in the period between 2010 and 2012, the new topic BECOMING LOCAL has been initially developed during the group’s meeting in Lisbon in December 2012. This umbrella topic complements the group’s preceding approaches and activities aimed at critically reflecting, analysing and discussing current trends and tendencies pertaining to public spaces and urban cultures in the field of urban research, design and planning. If you are interested in hosting an upcoming group meeting, please contact us at psucnetwork@gmail.com until 21st June 2013.
