Call for co-author: Booklet on Vanessa Watson

This is a Call for Young Academic (YA) Author to work in collaboration with distinguished Prof Vanessa Watson and another YA author, Aditya Kumar, reflecting on her research into planning theory and practices. This is a great opportunity for the YA authors to get to work on the booklet with direct guidance from Prof Vanessa Watson herself.

REGIONAL PLANNING AND DESIGN, FROM THEORY TO PRACTICES

Thanks to a financial contribution received from the Associazione di Fondazioni e Casse di Risparmio Spa (ACRI), full founding is available for up to 23 researcher positions, for:
  • participating to the international conference AESOP 2019 “Planning for Transition”, that will take place in Venice from 12 to 15 July 2019.
  • spending a one-month period as visiting scientist in one of the leading Italian departments that agreed to participate to the network.
  • receiving a full bursary of 3000 to 4000 euro's (without witholding tax) 
The objective of the “Young investigation training program - YITP” is to promote scientific research and collaboration among internationally-recognized research institutions and to encourage the mobility of young scientists. In particular, scholarships are designed to support the participation of young researchers, working in research centers abroad, to internationally-recognized research seminars and conferences organized by Italian research institutions. The ultimate purpose is to enable young researchers to establish and consolidate relationships with Italian research centers, with the aim of developing common research projects. The AESOP 2019 YITP is targeted to AESOP Young Academics that will be hosted in 8 Italian Universities for a research period of 1 month before Aesop Conference 2019 in Venice.

The program is organised by the Department of Architecture of the University of Florence within the framework of the AESOP, the AESOP Young Academics network, and the AESOP thematic group on regional design.

The AESOP YA network is an AESOP working group in particular addressed at planners who have only recently entered the academic world: PhD students, postdocs, people starting in academic positions. The activities of the AESOP YA network are complementary to other activities that are being deployed within AESOP as a whole.

CORE AIMS
Make AESOP a challenging environment for young academics

Form a network of young academics within AESOP

Initiate activities for young academics

Make the AESOP congress more attractive for young academics

Open up the structure of AESOP to better encourage young academic involvement

Ensure that attention is paid to the particular wishes and needs of young academics in the activities of AESOP

Use the opportunities offered by the Internet to make the organization more accessible and interactive, and to disseminate useful information.

The YA Network is organized by a Coordination Team (CT) of five elected members. One person from the CT represents the YA network in the AESOP Executive Committee.

The young academics network of AESOP founded plaNext to provide prospective authors an opportunity to engage their ideas in international planning debates as well as make their research available to the wider planning audience.
