How to become a member

Fill in the application form by selecting the appropriate category of membership among those listed below. During the process of application you will be asked to upload the following documents:

1. Brief description of the institution including (full/associate/corresponding/affiliate):
  • General presentation of the university/institution
  • General presentation of the unit applying for membership i.e. faculty, department, chair (when applies)
  • Staff profile
  • Research profile, including recently run research projects
  • Prizes and awards
2. Programme(s) in planning (full – compulsory / associate, corresponding – when applies), including names of the courses/modules, teaching hours, credit poitns. In case where an applying university does not run an autonomous planning programme, list of planning courses/modules (including teaching hours and credit points) is required.

3. Feel free to upload any additional documents you wish – flyers, brochures, syllabuses, etc.  

Once the application is submitted, you will receive an automatic notification informing that the documents have been successfully uploaded to our system. Once all required documents are received, the Secretary General asks no less than 2 AESOP Officials for a review of your application. Reviews are presented on the next Executive Committee Meeting and ExCo deliberates upon its approval. Accepted applications are then presented to the Council of Representatives for final acceptance.

The Profile of the mew Members is displayed on the AESOP webpage as soon as ExCo decides about their membership category. Once the application is accepted by ExCo, the Treasurer invoices the new members.

Full Member

Full Membership may be granted to a European School, running an autonomous programme in planning which meets the criteria defined in the core curriculum of AESOP.

Full members hold voting rights and hence, through their representatives, co-determine AESOP policies and procedures.

Membership Fee: 600 €/year

or 300 €/year  for countries with low GNP according to the World Bank criteria.

Associate Member

Associate Membership may be granted to a European School, running courses or modules in planning.

Associate members do not hold voting rights but are associated to AESOP activities and benefit from AESOP services.

Membership Fee: 300 €/year

or 150 €/year for countries with low GNP according to the World Bank criteria.

Corresponding Member

Corresponding Membership may be granted to a non-European School, running courses or modules in planning.

Corresponding  members do not hold voting rights but are associated to AESOP activities and benefit from AESOP services.

Membership Fee: 300 €/year

or 150 €/year for countries with low GNP according to the World Bank criteria.

Affiliate Member

Affiliate Membership may be granted to an enterprise, company, institution, organisation, agency or other entity being a legal person focused on planning.

Affiliate members do not hold voting rights but are associated to AESOP activities and benefit from AESOP services.

Membership Fee: 300 €/year

or 150 €/year for countries with low GNP according to the World Bank criteria.

Individual Member

Individual Membership may be granted to a person involved in planning.

Individual members do not hold voting rights but are associated to AESOP activities and benefit from AESOP services.

Membership Fee: 150 €/year

or 75 €/year for countries with low GNP according to the World Bank criteria.

Honorary Member

Honorary Membership may be conferred to a person who has made a significant contribution to the discipline of planning.
