ATLOT summer meeting - Gothenburg 2018
Published at: 11 June 2018
Important topics in transport planning are similar throughout Europe. Transport planners focus on congestion, air quality, safety, noise, liveability etcetera. Although main subject and local circumstances vary, underlying structures and solution are fairly common. Local solutions may offer valuable insights for researchers and policy makers throughout Europe. Land use and transport policy has been a track session in most of the EUSOP conferences so far, stressing the importance of the topic in planning in general.
This is a subject for debate among those who would be interested in participating. In a broad sense the workgroup should contribute to the creation and maintenance of a network of researchers and lecturers who are involved in issues of transport planning, policy, infrastructure and land use. This network could be used for many different things. It can be used to share and discuss research results, to learn about each others teaching in this field, to start research projects among different members of the network, to take the initiative to publish research results, to comment on transport planning experiments such as road pricing initiatives, etc.

The next AESOP Transport Laboratory of Thought will take place on the 15th and 16th July, in Costa da Caparica, following the AESOP annual congress.
ATLoT takes place in an informal setting, where the purpose is as much to enjoy each others company as to develop new research initiatives. Attendees are typically regulars from the transport track at the annual AESOP congress with interests in a broad range of transport-related planning issues. As an unconference, the ATLoT format fosters an excellent exchange of innovative ideas in a high-energy environment. Be a part of the meeting and bring us your ideas!
Attendees cover their own transportation and accommodation expenses.
If you are interested in joining us in Lisbon, please contact prof David Vale (david.vale@campus.ul.pt).
